Community & Cultural Mapping Research Group Convenes Community Dialogue on Wildfire Resilience

Wildfire resilience isn’t only about emergency response. It’s also about memory, community, and learning from lived experience. That’s why TRU’s Community & Cultural Mapping Research Group hosted an award-winning screening of EMERGENCE: Women in the Storm on July 4.

The film has received national recognition for its powerful portrayal of women navigating climate emergencies, and we were delighted that the directors were in Kamloops for a public Q&A following the screening. The film and the public dialogue contributed added important insights to our ongoing community conversation about resilience, recovery, and the role of storytelling in response to environmental change.

Panelists, from left to right, Hannah O’Neil, Lana Fine, Alana Hoare, Sheri Lysons, Meghan Fandrich, Nova Ami, and Velcrow Ripper. Moderator, Will Garrett-Petts
