Addiction Awareness: It’s Time to End the Stigma
Presented with support from the Aaron Manson Memorial Fund, Thompson Rivers University.
Research group members attended and participated in a special event looking at the impact of substance use on those working in the trades. We heard important and moving presentations from Bart Manson, Mika Dumont, and Lorna Thomas.
The focus was on how drugs, especially opioids and stimulants, impact families. Those with lived and living experiences spoke to the importance of fierce listening, of creating non-judgmental spaces, and of recognizing that recovery is a journey (with sometimes necessary missteps and detours).
